Sweet Potato Hummus

Sweet Potato Hummus holds a sweet and nutty flavor and is packed with many power foods.

  • 2 sweet potatoes, peeled & cut
  • 1/2 cup garbanzo beans, drained & rinsed Or, chickpeas
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed About 1-2 lemons
  • 2 tbsp sesame seed, grounded Or 1/4 cup tahini paste
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tsp paprika for garnish, optional


  1. In a steamer basket, add peeled and cut sweet potatoes.  Steam about ten minutes, or until soft.

  2. In a blender, add sweet potatoes, garbanzo beans, lemon juice, garlic, sesame seed, cumin, and olive oil. Blend on high for about 1-2 minutes, or until everything is blended smooth.

  3. Refrigerate for an hour to cool off.  Sprinkle a dash of paprika on the hummus and serve with multi-grain crackers, pita bread, or vegetables!
