Sweet Treats

Strawberry Banana Frozen Yogurt Popsicles

Beat the heat this summer with home-made strawberry banana frozen yogurt popsicles, or fro-yo pops as I call them.  It’s currently 97°F outside (in Florida), and we are all in MAJOR need of a healthy frozen treat to cool us down.  Fro-yo pops are creamy, sweet, and a terrific substitute for ice-cream, or any dessert for that matter.

This strawberry banana frozen yogurt popsicle recipe, in particular, has no added sugar, is made with real fruit, contains only five ingredients, and has only 30 calories per popsicle. (But keep in mind if your popsicle molds are larger than mine, they will yield more calories!)

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • 12 strawberries (mine were small)
  • 1 cup original almond milk, unsweetened
  • 1 cup plain nonfat greek yogurt
  • 1-2 tbsp honey (If you use very ripe bananas use 1 tbsp honey. If you use not as ripe bananas use 2 tbsp honey)

Directions:

First, measure and add everything into a blender (I use a Ninja blender, which is amazing).  Blend for 30 seconds, or until smooth.

Second, pour mixture into popsicle molds, or ice cube trays.  I used a six mold popsicle set, and put the leftovers into ice cube trays (22 cubes).  Each popsicle is about 30 calories.  Each ice cube tray popsicle is about 14-15 calories.  If you only use ice cube trays, it will yield about 34 popsicle cubes.

Third, freeze for 3 hours or more.  Run warm water over mold to to take popsicles out.  Serve & enjoy!
