Simple Asian Salmon

Simple Asian Salmon

Simple Asian Salmon is a 20-minute seafood dish, bursting with flavors of sweet, salty, and nutty aromas.  Your choice of cooking in the oven or on the stovetop!  The salmon cooks so soft and moist it feels as if you’re eating at a restaurant, plus its sweet & spicy combo will have you coming back for more!

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or rice wine vinegar)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sriracha
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp corn starch & 1 tbsp water (optional)

Directions:

In a small bowl, bring together apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, sesame seeds, soy sauce, & sriracha.

{Optional: You may mix 1 tsp of corn starch & 1 tbsp water together first, then add to the soy sauce mixture.  If you add the corn starch without mixing it in water first, sometimes it gets lumpy and will not mix together nicely.  During cooking this will make the mixture more of a paste and not not liquid-y.}

In a skillet over low heat, drizzle olive oil and place salmon fillets in the skillet.  Pour soy sauce mixture over top the salmon.  Add a dash of salt over salmon fillets.  Cook for about 1.5 – 2 minutes each side, or until salmon becomes flaky.  Sprinkle more sesame seed overtop if you like more of a nutty flavor.

{You could also do this dish in the oven.  Place salmon fillets in an aluminum lined baking pan and pour soy sauce mixture to cover all of the fish.  Bake at 400 F. for 15-20 minutes, or until salmon becomes pink and flaky.}

Remove salmon from the stove and serve warm.  I enjoyed this recipe with brown rice, kale, and fresh lemon wedges for a spritz of zest over the Asian Salmon.  SO delicious!
