Glazed Pork Chops

Cooking pork chops can seem like a daunting task, especially for the newbie cooker trying to learn the ropes and testing out new recipes. Not only does “glazed pork chops” sound hard  to make, but also where to even start picking out pork chops at the grocery store? And glazed sounds fancy. I was definitely in that boat a year or two ago (I’m still no pro), but this glazed pork chop recipe is actually quite simple and only contains 7 ingredients:

Ingredients:

  • 1 – 1.5 lbs boneless pork chops (mine was about 1.25 lbs)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne powder (depending on how spicy you want it)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

First, look for “boneless center cut pork chops”. I picked out a fresh looking package of seven, thin pork chops.

Second,  pre-heat oven to 350F. Some pork chops may come with a little fat along the edges. Make sure to cut off any visible fat pieces.

Third, in a small bowl mix together garlic powder, black pepper, brown sugar, cayenne powder, paprika, and salt. My husband calls this recipe “karate chops,” as they have quite a “kick” to them! Remember you can alter the cayenne pepper to your spicy level, or completely omit it.

Fourth, rub seasoning mixture onto both sides of all pork chops. No need to coat with oil, as the pork chops are moist enough to hold the seasoning mixture. Place in a lightly greased pan.

Fifth, bake 15-20 minutes. We gobbled this down with brown rice and green beans. The simple taste of brown rice collaborated well with the bold, flavorful spice of the glazed pork chops.
